Jonas & The Jaguar Moon

Born in Montreal in 1979, Jonas Tomalty has been a fixture in the music scene for years. He began singing at the age of three, later founding the alternative rock band Rubberman, which won CHOM-FM’s L’Esprit competition in 1999. Known for his powerful vocals and commanding stage presence, Jonas has explored both rock and blues genres, performing with bands like The Blues Blooded. His dynamic energy earned him opening spots for iconic bands such as The Tea Party.

Jonas first gained international recognition in 2004, touring with Van Halen and releasing his debut solo album, which sold nearly 100,000 copies. The album featured tracks written with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and his rendition of “Edge of Seventeen” garnered widespread acclaim. Nominated for Rock Album of the Year at the Junos, Jonas quickly solidified his place in the Canadian rock scene.

From 2010 to 2017, Jonas Tomalty led the modern rock band Jonas & The Massive Attraction, gaining significant recognition both in Canada and internationally. Their debut album, Big Slice (2010), marked a strong entrance with hits like “Big Slice” and “Seize the Day,” which climbed the Canadian rock charts. During these years, the band supported major acts such as Kid Rock, Van Halen, and Deep Purple, and toured relentlessly across North America and Europe, building a reputation for high-energy performances.

The band released several projects during this period, including an unplugged EP in 2011 and the album Live Out Loud in 2013. Their success culminated with hit singles like “Breathing” and “Big Slice,” which reached #2 on Canadian rock radio.

In 2021, Jonas released Undivided under his full name, marking a shift to a more intimate and stripped-down approach. Inspired by his travels to music-rich cities like New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Nashville, the album reflects a raw and acoustic style, focusing on simplicity and authenticity.

Now, Jonas is back with a new all-star band, Jonas & The Jaguar Moon, featuring longtime collaborator Steve Nadeau on guitar, and the powerhouse rhythm section of Francis Fugere(The New Cities) and Alexandre Lapointe(The Brooks). The group spent the summer of 2024 recording their debut album with legendary producer Dave Schiffman (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Chris Cornell). Drawing inspiration from the classic tones of 60s and 70s rock, while tipping their hat to the 90s grunge era, Jonas & The Jaguar Moon captures the raw energy of rock n’ roll in its purest form, setting the stage for a bold new chapter in Jonas’s career.

Légende du rock n’ roll, Jonas (Tomalty) revient à ses racines avec un tout nouveau groupe “All-star”, Jonas & The Jaguar Moon. Le groupe a passé l’été 2024 à enregistrer leur premier album sous la direction du producteur, mixeur et ingénieur Dave Schiffman (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Chris Cornell…).

Le fruit créatif de Jonas et du guitariste Steve Nadeau, associé aux puissants rythmes de Francis Fugère et Alexandre Lapointe, puise dans leur amour commun des sonorités de la révolution rock des années 60 et 70, avec un clin d’œil à l’époque de leurs débuts, imprégnée du grunge des années 90. La transition de la performance à l’enregistrement ne laisse rien au hasard. L’énergie a été capturée. Du rock à son état pur.

Fidèles au processus “old school”, tous les morceaux ont été envoyés à travers une console Neve des années 60, enregistrés sur des bandes et gravés directement sur vinyle pour l’impression finale. Cette expérience analogique est rare de nos jours, et donne à l’album un son et une énergie unique en son genre.
