Billy Simard
Billy Simard’s first introduction to music was from an old battery powered radio that he listened to in an isolated community on the shores of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba.
Growing up in a family of country music singers and players, he embarked on a recording career in the early 80’s. This resulted in some singles attaining chart action across Canadian radio. During a recording hiatus, Billy wrote songs for countless of artists and won an award for songwriter of the year in Manitoba. His next recording project took home the Canadian Indigenous Recording album of the year in the Country/Folk category.
He has recently found some success for his efforts with airplay across North America on Americana Country radio as well as parts of Europe. There has been increasing support here at home on Canadian radio including Sirius XM “The Indigiverse” Channel and Sirius XM “Top of The Country”. Over the years he has received 3 nominations in The Native American Music Awards and recently signed a Publishing Administration deal with Birthday Cake/Warner Chappell Music.
Billy was honored to be inducted into the Aboriginal Music Hall of Fame in Manitoba. From 2015 to the present , he has released 2 full length cd’s and a 6 song EP culminating in his latest EP “Saying Goodbye”. We hope you enjoy this EP and will add it to your playlist.
